About Ula Ložar

Ula Ložar is in seventh grade and lives in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Music has always had a big role in her life as she’s been studying piano for the past four years and also takes singing lessons with Marjetka Vovk, professor of music at the Popsing music workshop.

Ula has already appeared in many singing events and contests. She won second place at the School Talents Contest as well as the Golden Microphone at Bled and the Slovene elementary school festival ‘Pluck Up Your Courage.’ At the Europop Festival in Hungary she was placed 4th in her category, which was an excellent result. In 2015 she will participate inthe Tralala Festivala at Bitola. However, before that happens, she’s focussing on representing RTV Slovenija for the first time at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Malta.

Beside numerous public appearances and lessons, Ula continues to gain music studio experience as well. She was in a cartoon dubbing team and recorded a few theme songs. As she expands her skills in all areas of music, Ula appreciates the support and understanding of her parents.

Like any teenager, Ula has many hobbies. She likes to knit, crochet and paints on canvas; saying that it all helps her relax. She also likes to cook, so she's taken part in an elementary school cooking contest.

She's a great fan of singers like Beyonce, Jessie J, Little Mix and Fifth Harmony. Since she listens to music a lot, she continues to be fascinated by female singers who can hold the highest notes and appreciates their melodies, stage presence, success stories and style. Theirs is a very different world from the one she's used to!

She recorded her Eurovision song at the same studio and producer as Tinkara Kovač, the Slovene representative who made the finals at the ‘big’ Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen earlier this year.

As for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Ula is greatly looking forward to meeting the other contestants and performing to such a large audience in the shipyards and via television. She is honoured to be the first Slovene contestant and hopes to make a good impression.

Ula's friends, relatives and all those who have heard her sing provide her with a lot of positive energy. Her message for all of them, as well as those who will perhaps be her fans in the future, is: "Keep your fingers crossed for Slovenia, for it is the first time for us! I hope you feel the message contained in the song even though you may not be able to understand all the words."
