Where are we going?
Minsk, the capital of Belarus, is located in the center of the country. The first written mentioning about this town dates back to 1067. During its history Minsk was destroyed and restored dozens of times. The biggest devastation was brought to the city by the WWII, when it was almost wracked.
Today, Minsk is a modern European city, the biggest one in Belarus. Its population is 1,8 million people. The city has good transport network including the airport, big railway station and several bus depots. Minsk has a subway and a well-developed city transport system.
About the show: The arena
One of the key sightseeing attractions of Minsk is the Minsk Arena, which will be the venue for the 2010 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It is a large complex, unique in its complexity and functionality, with newest sound and light equipment, which allows organising international sport events and shows.
Minsk Arena Complex includes a multi-sports and entertainment arena for 15,000 spectators. The National State Teleradiocompany of the Republic of Belarus (BTRC) was accredited to be responsible for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. BTRC is one of the largest media holdings in Europe.
