Online voting introduced for international audience!

Online voting introduced for international audience!
A glimpse of the online voting platform (Note: Running order is for testing purposes only!)
Geneva, Switzerland -

Junior Eurovision is delighted to announce a new initiative for fans of the contest from outside the participating countries – the online vote! For the first time, fans from Australia to Brazil and America to South Africa, will be able to cast a vote in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest!

Each year Junior Eurovision is enjoyed by millions of people on televisions across Europe. However, we also know that there are thousands of fans of the competition following it online; who live in either European countries that don’t take part, or indeed further afield. So for 2014, we have developed a new feature especially for you!

Introducing ‘online voting’

Fans from outside the 16 participating countries will have the chance to vote for an ‘Online Award’ – a special trophy that will be presented to its winner in the press conference after the show. The votes cast online will not have an influence in the televoting results, but will enable everyone following the show across the world to still cast a vote for their favourite song.

How will it work?

During the televoting window, viewers of the online stream will be directed an internet page to where they can vote online. You will be able to cast one vote for your favourite song. All of these votes will be added together, with the winner receiving the ‘Online Voting Winner’ trophy after the show. The voting will close at the same time as the televoting shuts. New televoting partner, Sound of Data, has developed the online voting platform alongside their preparations for the televoting, to ensure a series of controls are inbuilt to stop any potential vote manipulation.

Who can vote?

Only people located outside of the 16 participating countries will be able to participate. Those inside the participation counties can, of course, televote for their favourite songs.

Watch the contest live online

You can watch the 2014 Junior Eurovision Song Contest live here on JuniorEurovision.tv from 19:00 on Sautrday 15 November. Commentary will again be provided on the stream, giving you the chance to interact using #jesc2014.

Philip6 explain us all elementary mathematics - we have learned it in the elementary school.

No one talks here about the official voting. There are no comments here except the geo-political vote :-) - rediculous...

Since everyone now are clear that the online vote did not "survived" the in-rush, lets start it again. The online vote is liable until the next year Eurovision - am I right? So if the organizers start it tomorrow, then we can give the Award to the winners the day after - it does not really matter. We just would like to give our appreciation to the REAL winners.

I do not believe that 37000 gave their vote the first second - I was there and waiting for the possibility to vote - it NEVER SHOWED UP - it NEVER WORKED!

So, fix it. Introduce it again to the audience. Make the online vote next month if you want. And then let us see the REAL winners. report to the moderator

And also, just some rudimentary Maths here...

    Italy - 159 -12 (The 12 they started with) = 147
147 LESS the 12 that the Kids jury gave them means that Italy got 135 points

    Bulgaria - 147 - 12 (the 12 they started with) = 135
135 LESS the 4 points the kids jury gave them means that Bulgaria scored 131 Points

    Armenia - 146 - 12 ( The 12 they started with) = 134
134 LESS the 7 the kids jury gave them means that Armenia scored 127 Points.

Will someone please explain to be how "Bulgaria are the real winners" when clearly they have scored less points around Europe?!?!? report to the moderator

To balance this out – It has to be reported that last year there were 2000 votes during the entire event and this year there were 37000 votes during the first few SECONDS – no wonder the system broke because, surprisingly, you can’t predict a 19 fold increase in your votes!! – There were attempts to restart the system but they failed. This was announced on the Press Conference afterwards ( Either if you were there “live”, or streamed).

As an Aside - Bulgaria are NOT the real winners (despite most of you commenting being *from* or having Bulgarian Decent) - Bulgaria were 12 points behind... Everyone started on 12 at the beginning, that means that Bulgaria still LOST by 12 points!! report to the moderator

The winners should be- 02 Krisia, Hasan and Ibrahim. "Planet of the children" deserved to win, why the hell your stupid online voting didn't worked? Ok, Bulgaria is a small country and you're not going to let it win although the performance. But why we couldn't vote for them online? I really liked that song, you should've awarded them at least the online award. Is someone going to react in some way? report to the moderator

Dear organizers, before promising an online voting you should get your act straight and then talk about voting online, a big disappointment in an otherwise wonderful show, Ruben report to the moderator

This is ridiculous. Did they hire high school students to organize this event? How is it possible that it is announced an online voting a month ago and now they won't allow it. When I put my comment/vote few hours ago I was really doubting that they will count the votes. It would take them days and they might make mistakes. What I want to know is why are we not allowed to still vote?

HERE IS MY PROTEST NOTE ABOUT NOT GIVING US THE CHANCE TO VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What an arrogance - "Don't forget to vote"
Just read below the comments of the people who was so confused how to vote and was trying to vote by writing their votes as a comment. Most of the people just gave up of course.
Based on these comments, please JUST ADMIT - BULGARIA IS THE REAL WINNER - do not give us this fake political regional "official" vote results. OK, Italy will be the host next year but give THE ONLINE VOTE AWARD TO KRISIA - BULGARIA! THESE CUTE CHILDREN DESERVE IT ALL ! report to the moderator

First of all, congratulations to Vincenzo and Italy it was a great performance. I would like to know why the online voting you promoted hire in this website didn’t go through I wanted to vote and kept trying until the time was up. Please EBU next time when you promote something please make sure you deliver because is very disappointing. I love Eurovision Song Contest and I’m a huge fan but today I was very disappointed. Congratulations Malta for the amazing show. report to the moderator

  • Posted on 16 November 2014 at 00:01
It is stupid what you did.First of all it was the eletricity problems, then you the crash with the systems, what is the meaning to organize this big event without prevent the crash, when everyone use internet and wants to vote. So stop acting like that and renew the online vote, because we want justice and want to vote for the real winner, not for the one who want!!!!!!!!!!!! report to the moderator

I do agree 200% with you! If you look at the comments below and if you suppose these could be votes, BULAGRIA -Krisia, Hasan and Ibrahim are the on line winner :) report to the moderator

    Please, read this carefully !!!
All the people who put their comments here - this is NOT the online voting!
They said the online voting tool crashed and it was not possible to vote online. They tried to restart the service igain but it was still some failure.
So, all what happened with the FIRST ONLINE VOTING (which should be the only REAL one) was that it was manipulated!
HERE I WOULD LIKE TO RISE MY PROTEST!
This voting can still be performed. I would like to say that you, people can continue to write here and rise your protests as well. So maybe someone will hear us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE STILL WANT TO VOTE ONLINE !!!! report to the moderator
