Italy ready to select participant in September
Italian broadcaster RAI has confirmed that they will be taking part in Junior Eurovision again, having made their debut last year in Malta.
It was a special debut entry for Italy in the competition, as Vincenzo Cantiello went on to win the competition and take home the winner's trophy. Now RAI will be back to defend their title in Bulgaria, and have confirmed how they will select their entry.
The Italian representative for Sofia will be chosen on 12 September on the first night of this year's "Ti lascio una canzone" - the show that discovered not only Vincenzo, but also Il Volo who represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest in May. This will be shown on Rai1 in prime time!
Rai and Rai Gulp, the channel that will show Junior Eurovision, re-arriemd their commitment to Junior Eurovision saying they are delighted to take part as "this programme for children promotes music as a universal language, which crosses cultural and geographical boarders".
