Though a part of the United Kingdom, Wales participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in both 2018 and 2019.

Broadcaster S4C was responsible for the country's participation in the Contest, selecting two Welsh language songs via a televised national final: Chwilio am Seren.

Their first participant, Manw, finished in 20th place with Perta, while Erin Mai took 18th place a year later with Calon yn curo (Heart Beating).

Wales withdrew from the Contest in 2020, which left the door open for the BBC to return with a United Kingdom representative in 2022.
